Why these two
Most MIDI problems come down to one of two questions. What is this controller number supposed to do? — which the CC chart answers, without the guesswork of a table that quietly invents names for controllers the specification leaves undefined. And is my device actually sending anything? — which the MIDI monitor answers in about five seconds, by showing you the raw stream instead of making you infer it from a DAW that may be filtering it.
Both are free, need no sign-up, and run locally in the page. The monitor uses the Web MIDI API, which works in Chrome, Edge and other Chromium-based desktop browsers; Safari and iOS browsers do not implement it, and the page says so plainly rather than appearing broken.
